Final international conference of the Tempus project “University knowledge transfer for sustainable growth”
The final
international conference of the Tempus project “University knowledge transfer
for sustainable growth” was held at UNN on June 1. It had the title
“Contribution of the Tempus programme to the innovative development of the
University”. The conference brought together leading scholars and practitioners
in the area of knowledge transfer and innovation in the field of science from
Russia, Great Britain, Belgium, Italy and Ireland. In his welcome remarks, the
Rector of Lobachevsky State University Professor Evgeny Chuprunov told the
conference participants about the history of the university, its achievements
in the past and at the present stage of development. The rector also noted the
significant role of the Tempus programme
in the development of the University’s
international relations, and more importantly, in the establishment of
UNN as an innovative university.
Professor
Olga Oleynikova, Director of the National Tempus Office noted in her
presentation that this year marks the 20th anniversary of the Tempus program,
aimed at improving cooperation in the field of higher education between EU and
the countries outside the European Union. Russia joined the program in 1994.
From the outset, Nizhni Novgorod State University became an active member of
the Tempus program and has been successfully implementing its joint projects –
one after another.
UNN
Vice-Rector for International Relations and Innovations in Education, Professor
Alexander Grudzinskiy in his report “Contribution of Tempus projects to the
development of strategic university management
at UNN” told the conference that
over the years UNN has won, on a competitive basis, the right to perform 15
projects of different types. These were the projects aimed at reforming the
curriculum of main educational programs in accordance with the Bologna
Declaration, ensuring academic mobility of students, personnel development for
institutional building, and development of university management.
